Expensive hulls of yachts and motorboats need routine inspection. The fiberglass plastic of hull is protected from water by the layer of decorative coating. However, this protection is not absolute. As a result of the water hydrolysis through the coating, the liquid is accumulated in the fiberglass. This creates pressure, from which the fiberglass is divided into layers (process of delamination), the decorative layer swells and the phials appear on its surface. The delamination affects the entire structure of material. Speed of delamination depends on external temperature and qualities of water.
Fiberglass plastic also can be damaged by mechanical action. Any scalings and cracks, even slightest, must be repaired to avoid further spoiling of the hull. Deep delamination requires immediate and serious repair.
We analyze the state of hulls, repair holes and cracks, relaminate the fiberglass. We offer restoration of the decorative layer, deck re-gripping, gelcoats applying and hull painting. We can also introduce alterations in hull construction using modern epoxy resins and foams.
